OK, we all know when April 1 rolls around. People enjoy pulling pranks on friends, media outlets publish outlandish articles and there’s just a hint of fun in the air. But when when the snowplow woke me up at 4 a.m., I just knew it couldn’t be an April Fool’s joke. Even VDOT wouldn’t stoop that low, spending taxpayer dollars to plow “pretend” snow.
So when I glanced out the window this morning, I got what I expected: A white world. But even I, who wear at least three layers each winter day, had to admit that despite the cold it was a beautiful sunrise. The heavy, wet snow blanketed the trees, billowing fog hung in the valley and puffy white clouds drifting by made for a gorgeous photo op. So with camera in hand, I spent 45 minutes outside attempting to capture this beauty through the lens—and the cold, wet feet were definitely worth it.
As pretty as it was I’m glad it disappeared as fast as it came.
