Birds, birds and more birds! Today my partner and I spent the morning conducting a bird survey on the expansive grounds of Kinloch Farm in The Plains, Virginia. The field, Kinloch Wild, hadn’t been mown or planted in several years, so it was brimming with native plants and birds. We’ve had a group of azaleas in our backyard since we purchased our house more than a decade ago. Each year I think, “Maybe this year they’ll bloom.” They grow taller and bushier as the years pass, but seldom do they exhibit more than a few flowers. The Stingrays game today featured Alden. Well, really, everyone played great, but Alden starred in the show. Despite the bangs and bruises he’s received over the past few weeks, Alden rallied and scored an impressive hat trick today in the Stingrays shut-out score of 3-0. Even though the opposing coach kept yelling, “Someone cover No. 7!” His words were fruitless because Alden was nearly unstoppable, as were his scoring drives, such as this one. Great job, Alden!
