As we were finishing dinner tonight, we had some visitors join us. Two young bucks, all dressed in new velvet, stepped into the yard to graze. While I enjoy watching the deer and think they’re beautiful, I really hate how they decimate my gardens. When we first moved here I spent a lot of time and money planting various types of perennials and shrubs, not realizing that I was providing a cornucopia of edibles for the resident deer population. I quickly learned that even planters sitting on my front porch were at risk, as the deer boldly walked right up the stairs to devour the delicacies.
Nevertheless, I still admire them from a distance, and on a lovely spring evening they provided a nice backdrop to the approaching darkness and a peaceful evening.
Who’s watching who here? Great expression on his face. Good capture.
Yes, you’re correct! I think I was under scrutiny as well. Thanks!
Really nice! I agree, deer are an obnoxious nuisance for gardeners. But they are beautiful animals to watch. Good capture.
I know. I can’t help but photograph them when they visit, but then when I walk around the garden and see the damage I wish they would remain in the forest!
Sweet and ‘innocent’ expression! I love deer so much, but have never had to share my plants with them. I can understand how frustrating that would be.
Thanks for visiting Karen! I enjoyed a tour around your blog today. Lovely work!
