This summer I’ve observed the Great Spangled Fritillary butterflies that have made our garden a regular stop on their rounds. Last month, they appeared fresh and beautiful, with rich colors and perfectly formed wings. Today, the two hanging out on the Marigolds were most definitely past their prime, with tattered and faded wings.
