Today’s adventure took me to the 2nd Annual Virginia Chamber of Commerce Economic Summit at the Ritz-Carleton in Tysons Corner. With a variety of speakers, from former Virginia Governors George Allen and Tim Kaine to other top economic players, it was an informative and inspiring day to think about business and industry in the Commonwealth. Although my fledgling small business is far from being affected by some of the challenges these speakers addressed, hearing their thoughts on future business growth and development left my mind reeling with new thoughts, directions and possibilities.
For me, though, the best part about the day was meeting amazing people who have launched businesses and political campaigns from the ground up, survived challenges and setbacks, and have prevailed in a tough economic environment. They were gracious in offering advice, their business cards and encouraging me to reach out to them for further information. While I was slightly apprehensive about attending this summit, I’m so glad that I did because the energy and inspiration I felt in the room was something you just can’t get through the Internet, newspapers or magazines.
