A highlight of our weekends is spending time in the yard sitting by the fire. When we first purchased this property, one of the first additions to the yard was a fire pit that Gary carefully designed and built to fit into the side of the hill. While some families spend quality time at the dinner table, due to our varied schedules, sports practices and commuting, the fire pit on a Friday night is often where we catch up on the week.
On clear evenings we can gaze up to see the Milky Way above us, watch passing satellites and shooting stars cross the night sky while listening to the comforting crackle of the fire. It may not be the traditional way most families spend quality time together, but it works for us and fits into our life living on the mountain.
Now that’s my kind of Friday night…or any night for that matter!
Yes, it’s a fun way to pass the time and be a bit closer to nature!
