This week’s Cee Photography photo challenge is Fire. While I have a variety of photos of traditional fire via campfires and candles, I chose this image for a different take on the theme.
Cameron and I attended last year’s Worldwide Photo Walk in Winchester, Virginia, where we spent time photographing inside the Rouss Fire Company headquarters. It was great to have access to this facility, and we enjoyed having the opportunity to study the trucks, equipment and the building, which dates back to the 1890s.
I edited this photo slightly in Lightroom before using the Color Efex Pro 4 filters Contrast and Detail Extractor to provide some extra texture and to emphasize this well-worn helmet, which has certainly seen its fair share of fires.
I love this fire helmet–it is s well worn, i can imagine the fire fighter wearing it to protect others from the destruction of fire. But even more, I like your take on the topic challenge–great perspective.
Such a fantastic idea for a WWPW. i lead one in Annapolis, and we all had such great fun. Love how you captured and interpreted this image.
Wonderful choice for this week’s theme. My brother in law and his entire family are firefighters.
Thank you, Cee. I very much enjoyed this challenge and revisiting the firehouse photos. They are such exceptional people.
Great fire related pic and I love your header with the horse mane knots!
Really saw outside the square, great interpretation of the theme, beautifully composed
