A few of my blogging friends have established a new weekly challenge that encompasses the iPhone and different editing apps. And because my iPhone is one of my most-used cameras, I thought I’d jump right in and play along.
This first challenge is Nature, and due to my frequent walks on the paths of the State Arboretum of Virginia, I’ve recently collected a few images in this theme.
This photo was taken in Camera+ and edited using the Clarity filter. I then uploaded the photo to Color Efex Pro 4, where I used the Fujichrome Velvia filter. The latter filter mimics the color and grain of the Fuji Velvia slide film, one of my favorites of the past.
This film, at ISO 50, was fantastic for nature and for still life scenes with lots of color. The richness and depth of the colors sometimes bordered on unbelievable, but it was fun to use and great for experimentation.

This is great!! I can’t believe that film is extinct! I love the filter though! Beautiful! And so happy you are going to have some iPhone fun with us every week π keep up the good work!
Thanks! I just double checked and it looks like Fuji still has a version of this film, so maybe not exactly the same at the old but still out there!
Awesome news! I may have to check it out π
Fantastic image Tricia. You would never know it was taken by an iPhone.
Thanks, Emily! I have enjoyed getting to know my iPhone and experimenting with different editing apps. There seems to be an ever expanding choice!
Great shot with the iPhone! I just got one and am practicing.
Thanks so much! My favorite app is Camera+ for the added control it gives you when taking the photo. I also really like the Clarity filter in that app. Sometimes that’s all I use with maybe a little cropping. Have fun!
Welcome to the challenge, your image tells a story of quiet and solitude and wonder.

That’s an excellent shot, I have to check out that filter too.
Thanks! Yes, for sure, this app is a blast to work with. There are lots of fun filters to try.
I love the dreamy quality of this shot.
Thanks, Mike! I think the Velvia filter helps out with that, but it was also a pretty day.
