Celebrating 500!

Looking Ahead

Looking Forward!

This marks my 500th post since I began blogging in March of 2011. It’s been fun to connect with so many people from all over the world, to read their posts, view their world via amazing images and better understand their cultures through it all.

Just today, I chatted via Facebook with a friend named Joseph from Africa. He lives on Lake Baringo, a fresh water lake in the northern part of Kenya. He describes it as a birdwatching paradise, and the beautiful photos he posts on his website and blog certainly fit this description.

We “met” through our respective blogs and our mutual love of birds. I hope one day to travel to Africa, but until then, following Joseph’s blog is a way for me to experience Kenya through the eyes of a fellow photographer who lives in an amazing part of the world.

I had dinner with a friend last night, and we reminisced about our careers and the many technological changes that have occurred since we began working in communications in the early 1990s. From typewriters and hot wax and typesetting, to instant communication with people all over the world via Skype, texting and Facebook, to name just a few.

I feel so fortunate to live in this time and place, where I can be here and there and everywhere while sitting in my home office. I’m regularly connected to friends, both old and new, and although social media doesn’t replace being there in person, it adds a richness to the life experience that I’ve truly enjoyed.

So, as I continue on with the next 500 posts on my blog, I appreciate all of the people who have joined me. Thank you for stopping by and visiting, and I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing a part of my world through my lens.

As Joseph said tonight in Swahili: LALA SALAM RAFIKI. Please stay safe, wherever you are!
