I figured out that if I walk up to the window with my camera already up in place, hiding my face, the Goldfinches will tend to ignore me. I can approach to within three feet or so of their feeder and even change locations without startling them.
This male seemed to grow annoyed with the sound of the shutter, however, and paused in his feeding to give me the evil eye. Maybe if he realized the free meals were in kind payment for posing, he’d give me a more endearing look.
Great shot. I doubt this little guy will ever be appreciative, maybe tolerant instead of annoyed eventually. Thanks for sharing your bird feeder shots–I sure miss having feeders outside my window!
LOL ! You were really disrupting his perfect meal.
One last meal until the bear is gone. Maybe he’ll appreciate me when the food returns!
