It’s hard to believe my little boy is 14 today. He’s grown up so much in the past year and is now taller than me. Fourteen years ago he weighed in at 4 pounds 11 ounces, and here he is playing soccer on his high school junior varsity team!
It’s amazing how fast time flies by. I’m so fortunate to be able to spend time with him in these teenage years, because I know that it won’t last forever. In two short years he’ll be driving, and I’ll watch him go off on his own like my parents watched me.
But, for now, I’ll cherish these moments left of his fleeting childhood, and I hope one day he’ll know how proud I am of him at every age, but especially 14.
Congratulations, mom. I remember the first time my oldest drove off in his truck with his girlfriend. I felt like I had lost all control and was panicked. He is now closing in on 50. As you said, my how the time flies.
Thank you, Pat! Yes, it’s amazing how fast it goes. I’m glad I’ve had some extra time with him over the past few years. It’s fleeting, that’s for sure!
And the photos you are taking will trigger so many great memories in the future.
Hi Tricia, great photos of your handsome son! I remember crying all day when my youngest turned three – sad because I no longer had a baby. She got married last year and that was another emotional time. You are wise to cherish these years of your son’s youth. They go by amazingly fast.
Those baby years were tough, but I knew I was going to miss them when they were gone because he was an only child. Each of these experiences and milestones with him are special for that reason. I do try and keep that in mind as we go…they’re gone in the blink of an eye!
Happy Birthday to your young man!
They grow all too fast. Being a mom or dad, that’s the best job ever.
Thanks so much, David. I agree, this is the best job ever!
