Upperville was once called the town of churches, and if you stroll around you’ll see three thriving churches, including the Upperville United Methodist Church pictured here. With the town population slightly more than 400, there’s plenty of space for worshipers of several denominations to find a niche. And with the entire town of Upperville a Virginia Historic Landmark and listed in the National Register of Historic Places, if you choose to stay for eternity you’ve settled on a pretty nice place.
I drive by Ovoka Mountain nearly ever day. It rises up from the Crooked Run Valley on the south side of Route 50 as I head down Ashby Gap from Paris to Middleburg.
