Arboretum Afternoon

We finally had a nice winter day, so Cam and I took the dogs for a walk at the State Arboretum of Virginia. We chose the three-mile loop and enjoyed stretching our legs and letting Peppermint and Derby, the dog that we’re dog-sitting this weekend, run through some of the open fields. Home. While I enjoyed my whirlwind trip to Florida where I soaked up some much-needed sun and visited with friends, it was nice to return home to the promise of an early spring. We awoke to 2 inches of snow on the ground and clinging to the trees on the mountain yesterday. I drive by Ovoka Mountain nearly ever day. It rises up from the Crooked Run Valley on the south side of Route 50 as I head down Ashby Gap from Paris to Middleburg.
