This one purple flower has caught my eye for the past few days. It’s the only remnant blossom on an annual that I planted this spring. Although the greenery is still intact, this plant is well past its prime and shows very little new growth. But just when I was thinking about cutting it down to clean up the flower beds, a lone bud popped up, towering over the rest of the garden. Of course, with the daily rain I didn’t check is very closely until yesterday when I noticed it blooming despite the chilly temperatures and falling leaves. Today, when the light was a bit brighter, I caught a few shots in between rain showers. There’s nothing like a little color and a steadfast constitution to brighten an otherwise gloomy day.
